After an abortive attempt to play our February fixture on that memorable wet and windy Wednesday the 12th, we finally congregated at Cardigan on the 19th. This was the first time we have ever postponed a fixture and what a good decision it turned out to be as Wales was hit by destructive winds and copious quantities of rain and sea water. By contrast the 19th turned out to be dry with little wind and an enjoyable day ensued. Imagine our surprise and smugness on returning to Pembrokeshire to find out it had rained most of the day!

The course at Cardigan was eminently playable with only a few wet patches. Unfortunately, only 15 members could make the rearranged fixture, so it was 5 groups of 3 who set out that morning. First off were Barry Chippy Wood, Steve Eleanor Rigby, and Stuart DelBoy Evans. They set a good team score for the following to match.  Next were Roger Doombar Woodward, John Pashmina Perrott, and Trevor Santa Lewis. Despite Roger’s valiant, or was it valium efforts, they couldn’t quite match their predecessor’s scores.  Surprisingly, the third group of Roger Analyst Handcock, Dave Boy Green, and Wynne Andy Cap Richards failed miserably, recording the lowest team score. Next to try were a strong group of Peter Bandito Hughes, Simon Swan Davies, and Graham Victor Longster – some good scores by the latter two winning the day, despite the efforts of the last group John Spindles Hargrave, Mike Maureen Allen, and Steve Gizmo Jones.

After a few drinks and a filling meal, the raffle was held and the presentation commenced. In first place was Maureen with 33 points playing off a handicap of 5! You are too good for us Mike so next time you are off 2!  Second was Doombar with 32 pts, and third Victor with 31 pts on a better back 9 than the Swan.

Team Prize by quite a margin went to Bandito, The Swan, and Victor. Maureen dropped Nearest The Pin on the difficult 16th. Longest Drive went to Eleanor on the 18th - Welcome back to the Society, Steve.  The 20+ Handicap prize went to the long suffering Gizmo, while Chippy had the only 2 on the 10th. After two events this year The Swan is leading the charge for the Annual Championship.

The 2013 accounts were presented which showed that the Society was now on a firm footing thanks in no little measure to the generous help of our sponsors.
