South Pembs. -April 15

Colin Conquers

Nineteen Kilgetty Society golfers arrived at South Pembs Golf Club raring to give the course their best shot. In beautiful April weather and on a course in prime condition, some succeeded whilst others failed. The only bugbear was a 2-3 club wind which for the course high up above the Haven was a mere zephyr.

First off were Peter Peroni Hughes, Martin FCUK Davies, and Bob The Gob Simpson. The Gob has not attended for many years at the Society and it’s good to see him back. His golf however left something to be desired and left him vying for the wooden spoon. Peroni however scored well, whilst FCUK couldn’t really get going despite some nice shots. Second off were Wynne Andy Capp Richards, Roger Analyst Handcock, and John Spindles Hargrave.  Spindles, on his home course, could not take advantage and also posted a wooden spoon threatening score. The Analyst, in the middle of a swing change, swung badly! However, Andy Capp is on a roll and achieved an excellent score. Following them were Barry Ballroom Neale, Steve Gizmo Jones, and Keith Director Leverton. All three were much of a muchness and didn’t threaten the scorers. Ballroom’s impression of a frozen golfer on the tee was unusual however! They were followed by two pairs, due to the unfortunate withdrawal of some members at the last moment. Dave Boy Green played with John Pashmina Perrott, and John Dynamo Richards with Colin ASBO Davies. The Boy did good as they say, supported morally by Pashmina. Behind them, some excellent golf was displayed by Dynamo and ASBO, sufficient to put them in the prize positions. Following them came Rob The Builder Nixon, Tom Tiger Woods, and Simon Swan Davies with the latter providing the group’s highest score on his home turf. Lastly came Bob Dixie Forrest, John Silver Haired Hughes, and John 20:20 James. With his hair flowing in the wind Hairy Hughes scored well. He was ably supported by Dixie, whilst 20:20 saw an improvement on his last showing.

So to the bar (and restaurant) where the sun drenched and wind blown members recuperated. The raffle was followed by Gizmo’s presentation of prizes as follows:

1st – Colin ASBO Davies 35 points

2nd – Wynne Andy Capp Richards 34 pts

3rd – Simon Swan Davies 34pts

Longest Drive – Bob Dixie Forrest

20+ Handicap – John Dynamo Richards

Team – Dynamo and ASBO

Wooden Spoon – John Spindles Hargrave

No one hit the green for Nearest The Pin (must have been the wind)

There were no twos.
