Rob builds a winning score

The latest Kilgetty Society Meeting held at Haverfordwest Golf Club saw 18 golfers arrive in the early morning, eager to complete a round of golf uninterrupted by rain, hail or whatever else has been thrown at us over the last few months. Fortunately, once again, the gods smiled on the Society – it stayed dry and Haverfordwest’s course proved to have good drying properties enabling us to much enjoy our monthly outing.

However, no one enjoyed it as much as Rob The Builder Nixon who, using his generous handicap to his advantage, plundered the course for a superb 39 points (including 3 blobs!). He was ably supported by Allan Snuff Gawith and Jack Macaroni Zeraschi (welcome to the Society Jack) achieving a winning team score of 90 points. This was two ahead of the team of Wyn Ballhound Hopkins, John Dynamo Richards, and Darrell Chalky Willington, the latter just missing a 2 on the 14^th, but managing to win Nearest the Pin. One point behind them were Kelvin Curtains Boughey, Roger Analyst Handcock, and Colin ASBO Davies who at least had the consolation prize of Longest Drive.

Some way behind these teams were Tom Tiger Woods, Barry Nippy Neale, and Keith Director Leverton (83 points). Then Trevor Santa Lewis, Steve Gizmo Jones, and Bob Dixie Forrest (79) although the latter two were suffering from dreaded colds kindly donated to them by their respective grandchildren! Bringing up the rear were John Silver Hair Hughes, Peter Peroni Hughes, and Dave Smiler Green (known collectively as the Hughie Greens!). I shan’t say their score to save their blushes! Better luck next time boys.

All members managed to scale the 18^th fairway (you know what I mean if you’ve been there) for a deserved drink and a delicious hot meal. Steve Gizmo Jones then presented the prizes as follows:

1^st           The Builder       39 points (The Green Jacket almost fit him!)

2^nd        The Analyst      35 points (better back 9)

3^rd        Santa                35 points (he comes into his own this time of the year!)

There were no twos.

Despite much pleading from Gizmo the infamous “sticks” were still unclaimed in the raffle. A home for these is desperately sought as John Pashmina Perrott is tiring of bringing them back and forth to the meets. Thanks must go to Pashmina for assisting on the day despite not being able to play.
