Wayne’s World
Golf doesn’t get much better than this! A beautiful day, a short but testing course in good condition, beautiful views over Swansea Bay from an almost Alpine like course, good companionship, and perhaps most importantly some great scores. Hence the happy smiling faces at the meal held at Swansea Bay Golf course after playing the vertiginous Earlswood course last Wednesday. Unfortunately many of our members missed this event due to the change in dates following cancellation after bad weather the previous week.
Nevertheless, 14 players participated. First off were Mike Big Box Allen, playing off a handicap of 1; Wayne Bandito Connett; and Martin FCUK Davies. Big scores from all three, and setting a huge target of 116 for the other teams to beat. Next off were Tommy Tiger Woods; Steve Gizmo Jones; and Roger Analyst Handcock. Tiger left his putting at home and struggled as a result. Gizmo had a excellent day without artificial aids, whilst The Analyst couldn’t quite analyse why he couldn’t hit the ball straight but still played well enough to score 35pts. Third off were Graham Victor Longster; Keith Director Leverton; Simon Swan Davies; and Steve The Dragon Hellyn. All good scores - Victor leading the team with 35 pts. Another fourball completed the teams – Peter Peroni Hughes; Bob Dixie Forrest; Dave Boy Green; and Wynne Andy Capp Richards. Peroni raced to 41 points and felt confident that he’d got a winning score. Andy Capp with 39 also thought he’d be in for a prize.
This is how the results went –
1st with a magnificent 42 points and a 3 handicap cut – Bandito
2nd - Gizmo 41 points, on a better back 9 from
3rd - Peroni 41 pts.
Team – Big Box, Bandito, and FCUK
Longest Drive – The Dragon
Nearest The Pin – The Director (the only one to hit the very small green)
20+ Handicap – FCUK
Wooden Spoon – Tiger
There were surprisingly no 2’s given the high scores.
