DERLLYS COURT - May 16

Flutter Flummoxes Fellow Golfers

Following the disappointment of Kilgetty Society’s Fixture at Derllys Court being abandoned last Thursday week due to a waterlogged course, we managed to rearrange the fixture for last Tuesday. However numbers were depleted due to the non-availability of many regulars. So 15 members hit the course, which was in excellent condition despite the rains.

Whilst few of us are gamblers we all wish we had had a £5 on John Flutter Williams who on one of his rare visits to the Society managed to win on the day with a remarkable 48 points. That is not a misprint. He had a respectable 18 points on the front nine and a totally disrespectable 30 on the back!! The Handicap Secretary has already been informed in his holiday abode in Bermondsey, or was it Bermuda he said he was going to? Anyway, a serious cut is in the offing for Flutter, especially as he also won the Longest Drive plus the team prize with his companions Rob The Builder Nixon and Dave Smiler Green; and the bottle of wine in the raffle!

He did leave a few prizes for the rest of us. Wayne Gypsy Connett came a long way back in 2nd with a commendable 40 points, whilst Paul Goodbye Marsden was 3rd with 38. Peter Peroni Hughes won the nearest the pin on the 5th; Jack Zabaglioni Zaraschi won the 20+ Handicap prize, and John Oh No Perrott the wooden spoon.

Despite many scores in the 30’s the Also Rans on the day included  Bob Dixie Forrest, Allan Snuff Gawith, Roger Analyst Handcock, John Javelin James, Steve Gizmo Jones, Anthony Wiseguy Ryan, and new member Mike Slippery Skidmore. Well done fellas, better luck next time.
