Derllys Court - May 18

KILGETTY GOLF SOCIETY

Hamster wheels in delight

What a great day Kilgetty Golf Society had at the Station Garage (Hyundai dealers) sponsored fixture at Derllys Court Golf Club last Wednesday. A really good turnout of 28 players vied for the privilege of donning the Champion’s Green Jacket and the course proved a fitting challenge (as did the Green Jacket on the winner!)

The conditions were ideal for high scoring on the beautifully presented course, and 21 of the 28 scored over 30 points and more. Randy, the random draw computer app, couldn’t distinguish the wood from the trees and drew both Woods together in the first group along with John Dynamo Richards. Barry Chippy Wood with a score of 34 bested his son Simon Gassy Wood by 3 shots only to be outdone by Dynamo with 37. Together a challenging total of 102.  Meanwhile off the alternative 10th tee Richard Frenchy Foley, Brian Windy Miller, and John Flutter Williams struggled to 74 although Flutter had a decent 34 points.

Second off the 1st were Barry Nippy Neale, John Pashmina Perrott, and Meurig Careful Evans. They were among the also rans I’m afraid with a matching 74 points. Across on the 10th Martin Dangler Davies, John Hamster Hammond, and Steve Gizmo Jones were skipping along producing the best team effort of the day with a huge 115 points.

The final groups off the 1st - Mike Slippery Skidmore, Bob Dixie Forrest, and Rob The Builder Nixon with 109 points, Perry Bonzo Phillips, Kelvin Curtains Boughey, and Wayne Chopsy Connett with 105, and Glenn Big Game Hunter, Paul Goodbuy Marsden, and Dave Smiler Green with 109, couldn’t quite match up. There were however some excellent scores among these trios.

Graham Basildon Bond, Wynne Andy Capp Richards, and Allan Snuff Gawith off the 10th scored 87 mainly thanks to Snuff. The last group, a fourball of Adrian Ambulance Alman, Keith Director Leverton, Graham Victor Longster, and Joel Lofty Braithwaite scored an average of 107.

After an excellent meal Pashmina presented the prizes:

First place went to Hamster with 42 points. Well done John, and an overdue cut in handicap.

Second was Chopsy with 40 points and a better back 6 from Smiler in 3rd place

Gizmo had 39 points for best 20+ Handicapper

Nearest the Pin was Dixie

Longest Drive was Ambulance

Whilst Team prize was won by Dangler, Hamster and Gizmo

Frenchy ignominiously claimed the Wooden Spoon.

There were surprisingly no 2’s despite the high scoring.

Thanks to all who came, helping to make it a smashing day out. Also thanks once again to Station Garage Kilgetty  for their generous sponsorship.
